چکیده

There have been a number of studies on sparse signal recovery from one-bit quantized measurements. Nevertheless, less attention has been paid to the choice of the quantization thresholds and its impact on the signal recovery performance. In this paper, we examine the problem of quantization in a general framework of one-bit compressed sensing with non-zero quantization thresholds. Our analysis shows that when the number of one-bit measurements is sufficiently large, with a high probability the sparse signal can be recovered with an error decaying linearly with the l2-norm of the difference between the quantization thresholds and the original unquantized measurements. Specifically, by setting the thresholds sufficiently close to the original unquantized measurements, sparse signals can be recovered with an arbitrarily small error. By borrowing an idea from the Delta modulation, we propose an adaptive quantization scheme where the quantization thresholds are iteratively adjusted based on previous encoded bits such that they eventually oscillate around the original unquantized measurements with decreasing granular noise. Numerical results are provided to collaborate our theoretical results and to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. & 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

One-Bit Quantization Design and Adaptive Methods for Compressed Sensing

There have been a number of studies on sparse signal recovery from one-bit quantized measurements. Nevertheless, little attention has been paid to the choice of the quantization thresholds and its impact on the signal recovery performance. This paper examines the problem of one-bit quantizer design for sparse signal recovery. Our analysis shows that the magnitude ambiguity that ever plagues con...

Noisy 1-Bit Compressed Sensing Embeddings Enjoy a Restricted Isometry Property

We investigate the sign-linear embeddings of 1-bit compressed sensing given by Gaussian measurements. One can give short arguments concerning a Restricted Isometry Property of such maps using Vapnik-Chervonenkis dimension of sparse hemispheres. This approach has a natural extension to the presence of additive white noise prior to quantization. Noisy one-bit mappings are shown to satisfy an RIP ...

One-Bit Compressive Sensing with Partial Support Information

This work develops novel algorithms for incorporating prior-support information into the field of One-Bit Compressed Sensing. Traditionally, Compressed Sensing is used for acquiring high-dimensional signals from few linear measurements. In applications, it is often the case that we have some knowledge of the structure of our signal(s) beforehand, and thus we would like to leverage it to attain ...

Quantization of compressive samples with stable and robust recovery

In this paper we study the quantization stage that is implicit in any compressed sensing signal acquisition paradigm. We propose using Sigma-Delta (Σ∆) quantization and a subsequent reconstruction scheme based on convex optimization. We prove that the reconstruction error due to quantization decays polynomially in the number of measurements. Our results apply to arbitrary signals, including com...

From compressed sensing to compressed bit-streams: practical encoders, tractable decoders

Compressed sensing is now established as an effective method for dimension reduction when the underlying signals are sparse or compressible with respect to some suitable basis or frame. One important, yet under-addressed problem regarding the compressive acquisition of analog signals is how to perform quantization. This is directly related to the important issues of how “compressed” compressed ...
